Jen Banyard reads from Riddle Gully Runaway
In her teaching notes, curriculum consultant Gail Spiers calls Riddle Gully Runaway a funny stand-alone adventure story for middle-primary to lower-secondary readers, suitable for both boys and girls. She says the book hinges on themes of self-perception, self-acceptance, resilience and forgiveness, and sketches simple strategies for young people towards bolstering self-esteem. Themes, though serious, are handled with an engaging, light touch. Listen in as author Jen Banyard introduces her irrepressible characters Pollo di Nozi and her reluctant offsider Will Hopkins.
